“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1
“Be very careful, then, how you live –not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
We do not know what tomorrow will bring. All we have is this moment, right now, and even that is fleeting. How can we use our time best in the service of God and our church?
Here are some ideas:
Spend time each day in prayer
Spend time each day reading the Scriptures
Take time out of each day to do something nice for someone else
Visit with someone who is struggling –just be with them
Volunteer your time to help those in need
These are just a few ideas. We have many missions here at First Church, all of which require time and energy for those called to mission work, whether it be local, national, or global. Be sure to visit our Serve page to find out how you can get involved.
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. –Romans 12:5-8
We have all been bestowed with different talents, gifts from God that we are to utilize in service to Him and to others. What is your talent? Perhaps you are a good listener; you could participate in visitation ministries. Perhaps you are a teacher; we always need teachers to help others of all ages develop and grow in their faith. You may be a good leader; perhaps you could join and/or lead a church committee.
Whatever your talent, we have a place for you. Let us know how you would like to give of your talents in our church. You may contact the church office or complete the “Opportunities” survey on the Serve page.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” –Matthew 6:19-21
All that we have is a gift from God.
Our offering is our way of saying thank you for our many blessings.
